We used to take clients to Europe and also Import and sell Warmbloods from a few breeders in Europe
Europe was great when the dollar was strong (fading memory). We would take clients to Europe and 96% of he time they could select and import the horse of their dreams and we would import a few to sell over here after evaluating them on the trip.
Two trends have become apparent:
1. Travel costs, importation costs and a US dollar being worth a fraction of what it was have made shopping in Europe prohibitively expensive for the majority of buyers today and made it unattractive for us and our breeding contacts in Europe to send horses over here.
2. The quality of the horses bred in the United States has improved to the point that we are seeing Europeans shopping in the United States and buying our horses.
One of the challenges for buyers of horses America is the amount of travel required to see several suitable quality horses. America is a very big place compared to Europe. In Europe we could plan to see many horses at several farms in a few days and all within a few hour’s drive.It takes weeks to do the same here.
A second challenge here is that our breeders often don’t have easy access to the quality training to start and the representation they need to market their horses effectively.
We saw an opportunity to help both buyers and breeders. Sue has been and is traveling to farms around the country to evaluate and select the best horses available to train and sell. We will have 8 high quality well bred warmbloods available and starting under saddle very soon. Add the ones under saddle now and the number is over 10.
